My client wanted to switch out her ready made slipcovers for some custom shabby chic slipcovers. You know when you see those ready made slipcovers and you think… hmmm they look like they fit? Maybe they’ll work. Here’s the deal, they fit the couch in the advertisement–but they never fit YOUR couch. You will need custom slipcovers if you don’t want them shifting all over the place.
My client bought a pair of Ready Made slipcovers for her couch and after awhile was done with them. She was tired of tucking and arranging to make them look good.
COUCH–BEFORE with ready made slipcover
LOVESEAT–BEFORE with ready made slipcover
Loveseat–BEFORE–without any slipcovers. As long as the base is good structurally, they are a good candidate for custom slipcovers. Don’t worry about what the fabric looks like!
LOVESEAT–AFTER! She chose a cream canvas for a worn in, soft shabby chic look with a gathered skirt.
COUCH–AFTER! She picked up some new throw pillows from Target to finish off the look.
Couch–AFTER! I did seams on outer arms because the fabric she picked up wasn’t as wide as normal. I think it adds some extra detail. I think the fabric was some sort of decking canvas…it was only 37″ wide instead of the typical 54″ wide after it was washed. It all worked out and turned out great!
SIDE NOTE—Today is an exciting day!!! I finally got my “How to Slipcover DVD” on a digital file! It is officially ready to be purchased as an instant download! No shipping fees or waiting for days for it to arrive! CLick below to purchase for $45 and download instantly!
