Herringbone Chaise Lounge

March 1, 2013 by Shelley

My client chose this great tan herringbone fabric to slipcover her chaise. I didn’t get a pic of the before…but it was a red denim slipcover that was faded and had seen better days. We also ordered a new down back cushion to bring new life to the piece.

Chaise–AFTER–we also did two houndstooth chenille pillows.
AFTER—subtle stripe that I matched up.
The chenille herringbone fabric was AMAZING!

She also had me do some new pillows for her couch. She really wanted double rope. I told her it might not work out, but I’d give it a try. Rope is really hard to work with, and is really hard to join and make it  look GOOD.

I was SURPRISED that it worked out! It was a larger black rope in the back and then a smaller gold rope in the front.

Her whole room! She had her pieces (couch, chair, ottoman) upholstered by Lenny Sharpe with Sharpe Upholstry in Midvale, UT. He does EXCELLENT work, and I always refer him.

I loved this chair that Lenny did in a great black/ cream houndstooth fabric.

SIDE NOTE

Here are a few pics of the progress on my new work studio…. I started moving all my stuff in last night.  I am VERY HAPPY!!!

The walls are gray, chandelier is gold, and french doors are mossy green, curtains are blue and white.

#2— Marathon training is going good. Ran 14 miles today. Usually it’s a love/ hate relationship…. I love it when I am done. Today was a good run though, and I actually loved it out there today on the open road.

Lorraines Tan Linen Couch

February 21, 2013 by Shelley

Lorraine loves ruffles and pink and antiques. She wanted to change it up a bit with her couch.
Gold couch—BEFORE

Couch– AFTER—tan linen blend with 3x gather on the skirt with 1″ of drag.

She had some awesome pillows to pull it all together.

I love all her collections and antiques.

I loved the 3x gather on the skirt…super full and feminine.  She wanted it just a tiny bit loose, so I made the band 1/2″ taller on cushions and 1″ drag on skirt and fit the front of the arms a little bit looser than I normally do.

The original couch had piping down the center in between the cushions….so I did the same.

SIDE NOTE—-

Work studio is coming along….we got new stairs and landing built with my dad’s help. I got the doors and steps painted mossy, olive green a few days ago. Tomorrow we are laying the floors (gray laminate wood)!

I can’t wait to get all moved in. I think I ran up and down the basement stairs at least 15 times yesterday just trying to get the car and trailer loaded for drop offs today. It will be so exciting when I can load straight  from my work room to the trailer on the driveway.

Making my curtains out of this fabric!

My Chandelier got hung this past weekend too! LOVE IT!

Swivel Rocker redo

February 14, 2013 by Shelley

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!  I thought it would be fitting to show off this red chair today!
Today and tomorrow—my DVD and ebook are 15% off with promo code “VALENTINE”
This clients husband had a “favorite” chair that he wanted to keep.  I am not going to lie, when this chair showed up, I had my doubts! Both arms were severely torn and missing foam. I whip stitched up the one arm and put some batting on the second and whip stitched that arm as well and then added  the cream fabric over the top for added stability and sewed that down by hand.

Chair—BEFORE!

 Arm repair—

Chair–AFTER—- she chose a great red canvas, which sewed up beautifully! She was completely shocked when she came to pick it up—It turned out better than what she was expecting. I had enough fabric to self line the skirt–which gave it a good weight.

I did piping on the inside arm seams….just to finish it off a bit.

Front of arm

I just followed the original lines of the chair, for where to run the piping.
